Summary of the NetWitness® Release Notes for 12.5.1.3

The NetWitness® 12.5.1.3 Release guide addresses several defects, delivers critical security patches for reported vulnerabilities, and provides details on upgrade paths, fixed issues, known issues, build numbers, and self-help resources. 

Fixes and Security Patches

This section provides information on the NetWitness® Platform User Interface.


NetWitness® Platform User Interface

  • "Show next 100 hosts" button now works in the Hosts tab.
  • Home dashboard widgets no longer show offline errors when the Respond Server is online.
  • Admin View widgets (Packets vs Entitlement, Logs vs Entitlement) now display data correctly even if a service lacks a displayName in the database. 

Admin Server

  • In Decoder > Config > Parsers, the Live Status and Date Installed fields now show values after uploading a parser. Note: Parsers uploaded before the fix (and after upgrading to 12.3 or later) will still show blank fields.

UEBA (User and Entity Behavior Analytics)

  • Stats (alerts, user counts, etc.) now display correctly in Admin > Health & Wellness > System Stats Browser.
  • Hourly Output processor DAG data conversion errors in Airflow resolved.
  • Maintenance flow DAG Airflow cleanup logs now trim correctly.
  • UEBA Server now fetches events from data sources without timing out.
  • Red banner errors on the Users page (due to presidio-output service timing) resolved.
  • Date range filters on Users > Alerts page now work as expected.
  • Feedback option for "None" in Filters panel now displays correctly. 

Security Updates

This section addresses critical, major, moderate, and minor vulnerabilities (CVE numbers listed in detail). For more information, see the NetWitness® Security Fixes article. 

Upgrade Paths

This section lists the supported upgrades: from versions 12.5.1.0, 12.5.0.0, 12.4.2.0, 12.4.1.0, 12.4.0.0, 12.3.1.0, 12.3.0.0, 12.2.0.1, and 12.2.0.0 to 12.5.1.3.

  • Versions 12.2 and earlier reached End of Life (EOL) as of March 31, 2024.
  • Upgrading from 11.7.x requires first upgrading to 12.2.0.0 or 12.3.0.0.
  • Warehouse connector users must migrate credentials to a new lockbox key after upgrading.
