clnt_create: RPC: Program not registered error for NFS server exports list in RSA NetWitness appliances

Issue

When Third-party external storage mounted to Netwitness appliances, the NFS server exports list using showmount -e command shows error as below.

 root@ARCHIVER ]# showmount -e 10.10.10.10
 
clnt_create: RPC: Program not registered

 /var/log/messages:
 
Jan 6 09:46:06 ARCHIVER kernel: NFS: state manager: check lease failed on NFSv4 server 10.10.10.10 with error 5
 
Jan 6 09:46:11 ARCHIVER kernel: nfs: server 10.10.10.10 not responding, timed out

Cause

This error was due to NFS protocol version is different in Third-party external storage.

Resolution

Please Enable NFS version 3 in third party external storage to fix the error.

Note: This particular screenshot was taken from Netapp server.

Post these changes, verify showmount output will be as below.

 [root@ARCHIVER ~]# showmount -e 10.10.10.10
 
Export list for 10.10.10.10:
 
/SIEM
 
/New_SIEM
