Difficulties retaining a new hostname after rebooting an RSA NetWitness Platform OVF image

Issue

It is noticed after the proper procedures for changing the hostname and rebooting the virtual machine are used, that the hostname reverts to the previous name.


Resolution

In order to avoid any automatic changes to the hostname, perform the following steps prior to rebooting after you change the hostname: 
  1. Issue the following command:  vi /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_ovf_process
  2. Comment out #setHostName(hostname) on line 477 and save the file.

These steps prevent the virtualization controller from reverting the hostname.
