NW Shell User Login Password Failure - Possible Special Characters in the Password
Issue
If you are trying to login on Nw-shell with a password that contains special characters that have not been escaped, you will receive the following login failure:WARNING: Login failure: Bad credentials
The following issue can be resolved by escaping the special characters. Please note the following login failure can be received due to other reasons, therefore, if you do not have special characters in your password please proceed with opening a case with the Support Team for assistance.
Resolution
The following list contains the special characters that should be escaped:
$ <dollar-sign>
` <grave-accent>
" <quotation-mark>
Newline <newline>
\ <backslash>
! <exclamation-mark>
~ <tilde>
To escape the special characters mentioned above you should add a \ before each special character, for example:
If the password is:
n"etw$itn'ess
Then, you will need to escape the special characters in the password in the following way:
n\"etw\$itn\'ess
If you still receive the Login Failure after escaping the special characters in the password, please proceed with opening a case with the Support Team to assist you further.
