RSA NetWitness Platform Series 6 server rebuild stops or errors on rebuild image boot

Issue

When rebuilding a Series 6 appliance with a current version of RSA NetWitness Platform 11.x, the build errors during the kickstart process.

Cause

This issue is caused when the PERC (H740P and H840) firmware on a Series 6 appliance has been updated beyond the currently RSA NetWitness tested version of firmware. As of the last update to this article, it is any version beyond 50.5.0-2819.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the PERC firmware must be the latest supported version. See RSA NetWitness Availability of BIOS & iDRAC Firmware Updates for supported versions of PERC firmware for Series 6 appliances.
